Pacific Youth Choir is designed as a complete graduated choral program.  It features five choirs and serves singers from age 8 to 20.

As Pacific Youth Choir students mature in their choral skills they are given developmentally appropriate musical and choral challenges. Through a broad range of choral literature they learn to sing with solid musicianship, tone, and a love for the artistry of great choral singing.

CORO PACIFICA
Conductor Mia Savage

Over 50 middle and high school singers make up this talented treble choir. A great honor in our first season was being invited to be the host choir of the Pacific International Children’s Choir Festival (PICCFEST). During PICCFEST Coro Pacifica will share a highlighted concert with the Israeli Children’s Choir. This highly skilled treble choir will be participating in festivals and tours at regional, national and international levels.

Singers must be able to hold their own part in 3-part treble harmony. Good reading, vocal technique, and prior choral experience are desirable skills for entrance into this group.

CASCADIA
Co-conducted by Mia Savage and Ben Landsverk

Our middle school singers learn vocal technique, sight reading, and strong part singing. Singers must be in 6th grade to audition for this choir. As singers mature in Cascadia they may audition also for Coro Pacifica.

Prior singing with sight reading ability is desirable. However, Cascadia also accepts talented singers with no prior choral experience.

PACIFIC CHOIR
Conductor Mia Savage
Assistant conductor Ben Landsverk

Our 72-voice high school choir sings a wide range of choral music. This group is highly motivated and talented. Singers who graduate from high school and stay in the area complete this group to provide a challenging and exceptionally high quality SATB (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) choir. We sing 4 to 8 part choral literature. This choir is gaining recognition locally and regionally, with invitations to the Heritage Gold Festival, and recent inquiries about professional engagements. Members from Pacific Choir will join Dennis DeYoung of Styx at Keller Auditorium for his May concert.

Prior singing experience is a must for Pacific Choir applicants. Applicants will demonstrate good reading skills and good vocal technique.

TSUNAMI
Conductor Ben Landsverk

This 26-voice a cappella men’s choir is for high school men with changed voices; tenors, baritones and basses. Tsunami produces great choral tone and has already received recognition in local performances and on television. These men have great fun while singing beautiful choral music. The men in Tsunami are also members of Pacific Choir.

CORO NOVA
Conductor Mia Savage

Our newest choir! We are starting a 3rd to 5th grade choir to serve the needs of younger singers. By providing the foundation of music reading, good tone production, and choir experience these young singers gain the knowledge and confidence to succeed in PYC choirs as well as in their own musical adventure. Quality choral singing in a fun-filled learning environment ensures that each young musician grows in her or his abilities.

A good ear for music, in-tune singing and rhythm are necessary for acceptance into Coro Nova.
